Symptoms of GESTATIONAL DIABETES MELLITUS

Symptoms of gestational diabetes vary. Frequently, there may be no clinical symptoms, with the only abnormality being an abnormal glucose level in the blood. Other signs include a fetus that is larger than normal for the stage of pregnancy. To confirm the diagnosis, a glucose test can be done. This is usually done during the 24th to 28th week of pregnancy for nondiabetic mothers. Earlier testing is often recommended for patients diagnosed with GDM in a previous pregnancy.
