Symptoms of INSECT BITES AND STINGS

Skin reactions include red lumps in the skin. They may appear within minutes after the bite or sting, or may not appear for 6 to 12 hours. Toxic reactions produce pain. These occur in such instances as bee stings. Itching may occur, due to the release of histamine from the body at the bite or sting site, such as occurs with mosquito bites. Systemic reactions include nausea, vomiting, and headache. Fever, dizziness, light-headedness, swelling, and convulsions can ensue. Allergic reactions vary in severity. There can be itching eyes, facial flushing and dry cough. If you are hypersensitive to the sting or bite, an overwhelming anaphylactic reaction can rapidly develop, leading to wheezing, and chest/throat constriction, and, sometimes, death..
