Symptoms of POST -TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (PTSD)

PTSD produces recurrent, intrusive, life-like and distressing recollections of the past event. There are often recurrent dreams relating to the event and a sense of reliving the event (flashbacks). PTSD leads to chronic anxiety, insomnia, difficulty concentrating and memory impairment. There may develop a sense of personal isolation and diminished interest in activities. People often demonstrate avoidance of activities that recall memories and past emotions. Emotional changes are common, including irritability, restlessness, tremulousness, explosive outbursts of behavior, a deadening of feelings and painful guilt feelings.
