Symptoms of SCLERODERMA
There is a wide variation that occur in Scleroderma. They symptoms depend on which body part is most severely affected. When the fingers are severely affected, they produce hardening and thickening of the skin the joints become stiff. Circulation may be reduced, with the development of numbness and ulcerations of the finger tips. Digestive tract involvement leads to difficulty swallowing. There may be pain with swallowing and people often feel that food may stick in the throat or chest. Food may be poorly absorbed, producing bloating after eating and weight loss. Involvement of the skin is very common. It produces changes in the texture of the skin, varcharacterized by hardening and thickening. It especially affects the face, where it causes the skin to appear tight and inelastic. It is common to develop generalized weakness, muscle aches and joint pains. Stiffness and swelling may occur in the joints. Anemia may develop that further aggravates fatigue and weakness.
