Symptoms of TENDINITIS AND TENOSYNOVITIS
Tendonitis tends to occur most commonly just adjacent to a joint. It leads to pain in this region and marked tenderness over the involved tendon. Any motion involving the affected tendon will increase the pain. When the condition becomes chronic, it can lead to limited movement of a joint, such as in frozen shoulder syndrome.
Tenosynovitis is most commonly seen in the hand. There is difficulty in straightening the thumb or a finger. The movements of the digit are not smooth, but jerky. Tenosynovitis may be caused by a bacterial infection. In this case, there may be swelling, redness and increased temperature around the involved synovial tunnel. Tenosynovitis that arises from a bacterial infection requires immediate medical care.
