Symptoms of TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME (TSS)
toxic shock syndrome produces the rapid onset of fever, that may be quite high, in a previously healthy person. Vomiting and diarrhea rapidly develop. A rash may appear, that is similar to a sunburn. Severe muscle aches and pains may develop. Hypotension, or low blood pressure, may develop from shock and lead to fatigue, shortness of breath, lightheadedness when sitting or standing and rapid heart rate. Increased thirst, decreased urine output and confusion may occur.
